Rapper Rick Ross Arrested in Miami Beach on Domestic Violence Charges

Rapper Rick Ross was arrested on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2026, in Miami Beach, Florida, on domestic violence–related charges, multiple reports say.

Miami Beach police took the artist into custody and he faces a felony count of battery by strangulation and a misdemeanor count of battery, according to news accounts. Authorities confirmed the arrest to CNN, one report said.

According to Leadership, the arrest follows allegations connected to an incident in August involving the rapper’s former partner, model and content creator Jazzma Kendrick; that detail was reported by Leadership and not corroborated in the other accounts.

Why the arrest matters

The charges carry different legal exposures: battery by strangulation is a felony allegation that can result in more severe penalties than a misdemeanor battery charge. Local media coverage emphasizes the seriousness of strangulation allegations in domestic violence cases and the potential criminal consequences.

At this stage, reporting indicates law enforcement has filed charges and made an arrest. Publicly available accounts do not yet provide information about any court date, bail amount, or statements from Ross, his representatives, or the alleged victim beyond the single-source detail cited above.
